Yellowhead Indigenous
Education Foundation
The Yellowhead Indigenous Education Foundation (YIEF) is a board-run registered charity based in Treaty 6 territory in Alberta. YIEF co-creates innovative solutions to address complex issues facing First Nations. Our vision is to support Indigenous student success that enables them to participate in the competitive global economy. We provide Indigenous students with access to programs rooted in lifelong learning in their language, culture, traditions and practices.
Some of the initiatives we are currently supporting include:
- Providing ongoing scholarships for students at the Yellowhead Tribal College.
- Addressing food insecurity through modular vertical farming at the Yellowhead Tribal Council.
- Mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 in Yellowhead Tribal Council member Nations.
- Advancing the development of the Exploring wâhkôhtowin board game in partnership with the Edmonton Shift Lab and the Indigenous Knowledge and Wisdom Centre.
- Developing Blossoming Flower Land-Based Education.
